New Debit Card Rules: The bank has made changes in the rules of debit card. From January 10, lounge entry will be available not by card swipe but by voucher. Now for free lounge it will be necessary to spend Rs 10,000 every quarter.

New Debit Card Rules: The bank has made a major change in the rules of airport lounge access for its debit card holders. The bank has decided to implement a new voucher based system by tightening the process of complimentary lounge access. This new rule will be effective from January 10. Till now, eligible customers could get direct entry into the airport lounge by swiping their debit card. But now HDFC Bank has decided to stop this facility after January 10. Under the new rules, only those customers will be able to get lounge access who fulfill the prescribed spending conditions. A lounge access voucher will be sent by the bank to such customers.

HDFC Bank New Rules:

The minimum limit for bank expenses has also been increased. Now for complimentary lounge access in any calendar quarter, it will be necessary to spend at least Rs 10,000 from HDFC debit card. Earlier this limit was Rs 5 thousand. However, this spending condition will not be applicable on Infiniti Debit Card and lounge facility will continue to be available on this card without any minimum spend.

Debit card holders should keep these things in mind,

the expenditure can be made in a single transaction or in multiple transactions. This expenditure will be valid both online or in store. But cash withdrawal from ATM, UPI or wallet payment, credit card bill payment from debit card and debit card EMI transactions will not be included in this expense. New debit card holders will also have to fulfill the condition of spending Rs 10,000.

Once the spending criteria are met, the bank will send a link to the customers via SMS or email within two working days. Voucher will have to be claimed from this link. After login with mobile number and OTP verification, you will get a 12 to 18 digit voucher code or QR code. You will get entry by showing this code in the lounge.

The number of lounge visits will remain the same as before. 1 visit per quarter on Millennia card, 2 visits on Platinum and Business cards, 1 visit on Times Points and GIGA cards, while 4 visits will be available on Infiniti card. Validity of the voucher will be from the date of generation till the end of the next calendar quarter. The lounge facility will be on first come first serve basis and the maximum stay time will generally be two to three hours.
